The event, aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, offers a range of activities that bring together the academic community and civil society in pursuit of a more balanced future.
The Polytechnic of Viseu is preparing to host the European Sustainable Development Week from September 22 to 24, 2026. Aligned with the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the event offers a diverse range of activities—promoted by all IPV organizational units—that bring together the academic community and civil society in pursuit of a more balanced future.
The initiative kicks off on Tuesday, September 22, with a formal opening session, followed by the presentation of the "Sustainability Handbook" (*Sebenta da Sustentabilidade*). The first day features a welcome for new students and cultural activities, including a guided tour of the city of Viseu and an evening concert by the band Carrots After Lunch.
Wednesday, September 23, focuses on environmental action and the circular economy. Highlights include the "Sustainable Pavia: Acting for the River" initiative and the Forum on Sustainability and the Circular Economy. Educational activities include workshops dedicated to SDG 5 (Gender Equality), the Biosphere, and Zero Pollution (hosted by IPV research centers), as well as hands-on sessions on recycled paper, weaving (upcycling), and circular fashion. The day concludes with an "ECOnvívio" (eco-social gathering) to foster sustainable networking.
The closing day, Thursday, September 24, emphasizes the connection to the local area and mental health. Scheduled activities include visits to Fontelo Park and the Planalto Beirão region, as well as an open lecture on sustainability in the business world. The program features a panel discussion on sustainability challenges in the Douro region, including a visit to the wine cellars. The event wraps up dynamically with a "Dog Walk" (*Cãominhada*) and the "Saud’Art" workshop. Throughout the three days, the campus will host ongoing activities, transforming into a space for leisure and raising awareness, featuring street food, a Circular Fashion Market, educational games, and "Quizzability."
With this initiative, the Polytechnic of Viseu reaffirms its commitment to education for sustainable development, inviting everyone to actively participate in creating solutions for global challenges regarding climate, inequality, and ecosystem preservation.
O Politécnico de Viseu prepara-se para acolher, entre os dias 22 e 24 de setembro de 2026, a Semana Europeia do Desenvolvimento Sustentável. O evento, alinhado com os 17 Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável (ODS) das Nações Unidas, oferece um conjunto diversificado de atividades, promovidas por todas as Unidades Orgânicas do IPV, que unem a comunidade académica e a sociedade civil em prol de um futuro mais equilibrado.
A iniciativa arranca na terça-feira, 22 de setembro, com uma Sessão de Abertura solene, seguida da apresentação da "Sebenta da Sustentabilidade". O primeiro dia é marcado pela receção aos novos estudantes e por momentos culturais, incluindo uma visita guiada à cidade de Viseu e o concerto noturno da banda Carrots After Lunch.
A quarta-feira, 23 de setembro, foca-se na ação ambiental e na economia circular. Os destaques incluem a iniciativa "Pavia Sustentável: Agir pelo Rio" e o Fórum sobre Sustentabilidade e Economia Circular. No campo da formação, decorrerão workshops dedicados ao ODS 5 (Igualdade de Género), à Biosfera e à Poluição Zero (workshop promovidos pelo Centros de Investigação do IPV), além de oficinas práticas de papel reciclado e tecelagem (upcycling) e Moda Circular. O dia termina com um "ECOnvívio" para promover o networking sustentável.
O encerramento, na quinta-feira, 24 de setembro, propõe uma ligação direta ao território e à saúde mental. Estão programadas visitas ao Parque do Fontelo e ao Planalto Beirão, bem como uma aula aberta sobre a sustentabilidade no mundo empresarial. Inclui um painel sobre os desafios da sustentabilidade na região do Douro, com visita às Caves. A programação termina de forma dinâmica com uma "Cãominhada" e o workshop "Saud’Art".
Durante os três dias, o campus terá atividades em permanência, transformando-se num espaço de lazer e consciencialização com street food, um Mercado de Moda Circular, jogos didáticos e o "Quizzability".
Com esta iniciativa, o Politécnico de Viseu reafirma o seu compromisso com a educação para o desenvolvimento sustentável, convidando todos a participar ativamente na construção de soluções para os desafios globais do clima, da desigualdade e da preservação dos ecossistemas.
