The European Sustainable Development Network
The European Sustainable Development Network (ESDN) is an association and network of public administrators and other experts dealing with sustainable development (SD) strategies and policies in Europe. This website serves as a one-stop-shop for SD strategies in Europe, and is the communication platform of the ESDN. The ESDN was established in 2002. In November 2019, the ESDN became a non-profit association dealing with relevant challenges and opportunities related to sustainability and sustainable development that are in the public interest and of particular concern to the members of the Association. The ESDN Association, as a learning and exchange platform, mainly deals with issues related to the preparation and implementation of national strategies and processes serving the implementation of the international commitments related to sustainable development, mainly the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Association also fosters the pan-European dialogue and experience exchange of practices to promote sustainable development, and advises political decision-makers at European, national and sub-national levels. The ESDN has over 400 members and partners, coming from more than 40 countries. The activities of the ESDN Association are guided by the ESDN Executive Committee and the ESDN Advisory Board, which has representatives from eight European countries. Since early 2006, the networking activities have been supported by the ESDN Office. The ESDN Office also maintains and updates this website regularly.
