European Sustainable Development Weeks at SOMCO

SOMCO is taking part in the European Sustainable Development Weeks with activities for tenants and employees promoting sustainable everyday practices.

As a social housing provider based in Alsace, SOMCO is taking part in the European Sustainable Development Weeks from 18 September to 8 October 2026.

Over three weeks, SOMCO is offering a varied programme of activities for its employees and tenants in Mulhouse and Strasbourg to raise awareness of sustainable development through practical and accessible actions.

The programme focuses on responsible consumption, waste reduction and reuse, sustainable food and biodiversity. Activities include a workplace sorting and clean-up afternoon, an employee swap event with remaining items donated to a local organisation, food waste awareness activities, workshops on healthier and more sustainable eating, the discovery of local and bulk purchasing through the VRAC network, and tastings of alternatives to coffee.

Participants will also be invited to make natural household cleaning products and build birdhouses and bird feeders, while challenges, quizzes and online games will encourage employees to explore environmental issues throughout the three weeks.

Through these activities, SOMCO aims to encourage simple, practical and collective changes in everyday habits while bringing together tenants, employees and local partners around sustainable development.
