What Nature Tells Us – Stories from Meadows, Forests and a Rental Apiary
A series of literary stories, video readings and nature observations created in the Grīņi Nature Reserve, connecting natural meadows, bees, biodiversity and human responsibility towards nature.
From 1 September to 9 October 2026, Latvian author, beekeeper and nature observer Inese Dimanta will publish a series of literary stories, video readings and nature observations on the Grīņi Nature Reserve Facebook page.
The stories were created at the “Graudiņi” farm within the territory of the Grīņi Nature Reserve. Based on real-life experiences, they connect human life with natural meadows, native plants, bees, wild animals and the seasonal rhythm of the reserve. The initiative encourages people to reflect on biodiversity, pollinators, the value of natural grasslands and responsible coexistence with nature.
The initiative also presents the Bee Diamond rental apiary, established with financial support from the small grants programme of the Latvian Fund for Nature under the LIFE-IP LatViaNature project “Optimising the Governance and Management of the Natura 2000 Protected Areas Network in Latvia” (LIFE19IPE/LV/000010).
The rental apiary has been awarded the “Product of Natural Meadows” label created by the Latvian Fund for Nature. It offers a year-long educational experience through which participants can follow the life cycle of a bee colony and learn about flowering plants, pollinators, natural meadows and the seasonal changes of the Grīņi Nature Reserve.
The initiative shows that honey does not begin in a jar – it begins in a meadow, a flower and the flight of a bee.
The series will culminate on 9 October in Vērgale with the launch of Inese Dimanta’s book “What Nature Tells Us”, featuring conversations, literary readings and stories about the relationship between people and nature.
No 2026. gada 1. septembra līdz 9. oktobrim autore, biškope un dabas vērotāja Inese Dimanta Grīņu rezervāta Facebook kontā publicēs literāru stāstu, video lasījumu un dabas vērojumu ciklu.
Stāsti tapuši “Graudiņos” Grīņu dabas rezervāta teritorijā un balstīti patiesos dzīves notikumos. Tajos cilvēka dzīve savijas ar dabiskajām pļavām, vietējiem augiem, bitēm, savvaļas dzīvniekiem un rezervāta gadalaiku ritmu. Iniciatīva rosina domāt par bioloģiskās daudzveidības saglabāšanu, apputeksnētāju nozīmi, dabisko pļavu vērtību un cilvēka atbildību pret vidi.
Iniciatīvas daļa ir arī Bee Diamond īres drava, kas izveidota ar Latvijas Dabas fonda projekta LIFE-IP LatViaNature “Natura 2000 aizsargājamo teritoriju pārvaldības un apsaimniekošanas optimizācija” (LIFE19IPE/LV/000010) mazo grantu finansējuma atbalstu.
Īres dravai piešķirta Latvijas Dabas fonda zīme “Dabisko pļavu produkts”. Tā piedāvā gadu ilgu vides izziņas pieredzi, ļaujot sekot bišu saimes dzīves ciklam un iepazīt ziedošos augus, apputeksnētājus, dabiskās pļavas un Grīņu dabas rezervāta sezonālās norises.
Iniciatīva atgādina, ka medus nesākas burciņā — tas sākas pļavā, ziedā un bišu lidojumā.
Stāstu cikla kulminācija būs Ineses Dimantas grāmatas “Ko daba pastāsta par mums” atklāšana 9. oktobrī Vērgalē ar sarunām, literāriem lasījumiem un stāstiem par cilvēka attiecībām ar dabu.
