The Next Act for CCSIs: Driving Sustainable Practices for a Competitive and Resilient Sector

The transition towards a sustainable cultural ecosystem is no longer just an ambition; it is an operational necessity. We are delighted to invite you to the CreaSus Final Conference, taking place on 28-29 September 2026. Hosted in Brussels, this final event represents an important milestone for our EU-funded project, bringing together cultural professionals, researchers, policymakers and sector representatives to discuss how sustainability can be embedded more effectively across the Cultural and Creative Sectors and Industries (CCSIs).

For the past three years, CreaSus has worked to design, test, and refine actionable sustainability business models tailored specifically for CCSIs. Our objective has been to equip practitioners and institutions with the frameworks needed to integrate Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles directly into their core operations, securing their long-term viability without compromising their artistic missions.

As the European Commission outlines its strategic pathway through the Culture Compass, the mandate for Europe’s cultural ecosystem is unequivocal. The cultural sector is called upon not merely to adapt, but to actively evolve into a more competitive, resilient, and cohesive force within Europe. This transition demands more than goodwill; it requires structural innovation, a critical rethinking of traditional models, and a shared vision for how sustainability can anchor cultural resilience.

The CreaSus Final Conference is designed as a direct response to this ambitious framework. Far from a standard project showcase, the event will use the experience and outcomes of CreaSus as a starting point for a wider dialogue on the links between high-level policy, future-focused academic education, sector needs and daily cultural practice.

The conference will culminate in a dedicated Policy Roundtable at the European Parliament, hosted by MEP Marcos Ros Sempere. A Spanish Member of the European Parliament for PSOE and the S&D Group, Marcos Ros brings a particularly relevant perspective to this discussion through his work on regional development, culture, architecture, urban planning, and the New European Bauhaus. His engagement with the links between sustainability, built environments, cultural life, and European policy will help frame the final exchange on how CreaSus results can contribute to wider conversations on the future of Europe’s cultural and creative ecosystem.
