The 48er-Mistfest is a popular information and hands-on event organised by the City of Vienna’s MA 48 - Departement for Waste Management, Street Cleaning and Vehicle Fleet - focusing on waste prevention, waste separation, the circular economy, cleanliness, environmental protection and climate action. Numerous departments of the City of Vienna, municipal companies and partner organisations present their services and demonstrate how everyone can contribute to a sustainable and liveable city.
The event’s accessible and engaging concept combines information, entertainment and hands-on experiences for people of all ages. The circular economy and correct waste separation are at the heart of the programme, highlighting their importance for conserving resources and protecting the climate. In this way, the Mistfest contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals “Sustainable Cities and Communities” and “Climate Action.”
With around 40,000 visitors expected over two days, the Mistfest reaches a broad audience. For many people in Vienna – especially families – it has become an annual highlight and a regular fixture in their calendars.
The 48er-Mistfest is organised as an eco-friendly and Green Event, with a strong focus on resource-efficient and sustainable event management.
Das 48er-Mistfest ist eine beliebte Informations- und Erlebnisveranstaltung der Stadt Wien, MA 48 - Abfallwirtschaft, Straßenreinigung und Fuhrpark - rund um Abfallvermeidung, Mülltrennung, Kreislaufwirtschaft, Sauberkeit sowie Umwelt- und Klimaschutz. Zahlreiche Abteilungen der Stadt Wien, stadteigene Unternehmen und Partner*innen informieren über ihre Leistungen und zeigen, wie jede und jeder Einzelne zu einer nachhaltigen und lebenswerten Stadt beitragen kann.
Das niederschwellige, spielerische Konzept verbindet Information, Unterhaltung und praktische Erfahrungen für alle Altersgruppen. Im Mittelpunkt stehen die Kreislaufwirtschaft und die richtige Mülltrennung als wichtiger Beitrag zum Ressourcenschutz und Klimaschutz. Damit leistet das Mistfest einen Beitrag zu den UN-Zielen für nachhaltige Entwicklung „Nachhaltige Städte und Gemeinden“ und „Maßnahmen zum Klimaschutz“.
Mit rund 40.000 erwarteten Besucher*innen an zwei Veranstaltungstagen erreicht das Mistfest ein breites Publikum. Für viele Wiener*innen – insbesondere für Familien – ist es bereits ein jährlicher Fixtermin.
Das 48er-Mistfest wird als Öko- und Green Event ausgerichtet und setzt damit auch bei der Durchführung auf eine ressourcenschonende und nachhaltige Veranstaltungsorganisation.
