Sustainable Grazing – Sheep Farming as a Tradition
Students in the 7th and 8th grades at the Drežnica branch school are investigating sustainable grazing as a form of traditional knowledge that connects families, pastures, sheep, and local landscapes.
Seventh and eighth-grade students from the Drežnica school are exploring sustainable grazing as a local tradition. At a family farm, they learn about a specific sheep breed and its characteristics, as well as the traditional tools used in sheep farming. They observe the pasture and record details such as grazing plots, grazing periods, water availability for the animals, and grazing intensity; they also propose a rotational grazing plan for the well-being of the sheep (ensuring food availability). They speak with the farmer. The results of the activities are presented at a school exhibition.
Učenici sedmog i osmog razreda škole Drežnica istražuju održivu ispašu kao lokalnu tradiciju. Na obiteljskom gospodarstvu upoznaju se sa pasminom ovaca i njezinim karakteristikama te s tradicionalnim alatima koji se koriste u ovčarstvu. Promatraju pašnjak i bilježe pojedinosti poput parcela za ispašu, razdoblja ispaše, dostupnosti vode za životinje i intenziteta ispaše; također predlažu plan rotacijske ispaše radi dobrobiti ovaca (osiguravanje dostupnosti hrane). Razgovaraju s poljoprivrednikom. Rezultati aktivnosti se predstavljaju na školskoj izložbi.
