On 18 September 2026, Parking Day and Tag der Wohnstraße (Residential Street Day) will showcase how neighbours, initiatives and associations can unlock the potential of a street.
On 18 September 2026, Parking Day and Tag der Wohnstraße (Residential Street Day) will showcase how neighbours, initiatives and associations can unlock the potential of a street. Small venues will pop up right outside people’s homes, open to everyone and free entry.
It does not take a large event to get involved. A shared breakfast, a planting activity, a clothes swap, a play area or simply a few chairs outdoors can demonstrate how public space can be used differently.
Parking Day is an international day of action during which parking spaces are creatively transformed and used for other purposes. In Vienna it will once again take place together with Residential Street Day, an initiative launched by the association space and place.
Together with space and place, we invite everyone to bring Vienna’s Grätzloasen and residential streets to life. The programme will be continually updated throughout the summer.
Am 18. September 2026, beim Parking Day und beim Tag der Wohnstraße zeigen Nachbar:innen, Initiativen und Vereine, wie viel in einer Straße möglich ist. Es entstehen kleine Treffpunkte direkt vor der Haustür, ohne Konsumzwang und offen für alle.
Es braucht dafür keine große Veranstaltung. Auch ein gemeinsames Frühstück, eine Pflanzaktion, ein Kleidertausch, eine Spielecke oder ein paar Sessel im Freien können zeigen, wie der öffentliche Raum genutzt werden kann.
Der Parking Day ist ein internationaler Aktionstag, bei dem Parkplätze kreativ umgenutzt werden. In Wien findet er heuer wieder gemeinsam mit dem Tag der Wohnstraße statt, der vom Verein space and place initiiert wurde.
Gemeinsam mit space and place laden wir dazu ein, Wiens Grätzloasen und Wohnstraßen mit Leben zu füllen. Das Programm wird über den Sommer laufend ergänzt.
