Omiš in Focus – Measure, Explore, Act!
Students explore the local environment using GLOBE protocols and propose actions for a more sustainable Omiš.
As part of the European Sustainable Development Week, students of Josip Pupačić Primary School will explore the state of the environment in their local surroundings by applying selected GLOBE protocols. Through fieldwork at different locations in Omiš, students will collect data on water, the atmosphere, soil, and vegetation, while also observing the impact of human activities on the local environment.
By measuring air and surface temperatures, conducting meteorological observations, analysing basic physical and chemical properties of water, and observing soil, vegetation, and characteristics of the local area, students will explore their everyday environment from the perspective of young researchers. The collected data will be compared, analysed, and linked to the Sustainable Development Goals.
The final part of the activity will focus on the question: “What do the data tell us, and what can we change?” Based on their findings, students will propose small, achievable actions through which the school, students, and the local community can contribute to environmental protection.
The activity combines scientific research, experiential learning, and responsible action, helping students understand that sustainability begins with knowing and understanding the environment in which they live.
Omiš pod povećalom – izmjeri, istraži, djeluj!
U sklopu Europskog tjedna održivog razvoja učenici OŠ Josip Pupačić istražit će stanje okoliša u neposrednom okruženju škole primjenjujući odabrane GLOBE protokole. Terenskim radom na različitim lokacijama u Omišu učenici će prikupljati podatke o vodi, atmosferi, tlu i vegetaciji te promatrati utjecaj čovjekovih aktivnosti na lokalni okoliš.
Mjerenjem temperature zraka i površina, meteorološkim opažanjima, analizom osnovnih fizikalno-kemijskih svojstava vode te opažanjem tla, vegetacije i obilježja prostora učenici će upoznati okoliš u kojem svakodnevno žive iz perspektive mladih istraživača. Prikupljene podatke usporedit će, analizirati i povezati s ciljevima održivog razvoja.
Završni dio aktivnosti bit će usmjeren na pitanje „Što nam podaci govore i što možemo promijeniti?”. Na temelju rezultata učenici će predložiti male, ostvarive aktivnosti kojima škola, učenici i lokalna zajednica mogu pridonijeti očuvanju okoliša.
Aktivnost povezuje znanstveno istraživanje, iskustveno učenje i odgovorno djelovanje te učenicima pokazuje da održivost počinje upoznavanjem i razumijevanjem vlastitog životnog prostora.
