With our clothing swap as part of the “European Sustainability Weeks 2026,” we want to send a message in support of greater sustainability and keep clothing in circulation longer.
The textile industry is one of the most harmful to the climate and the environment in the world. Textile manufacturing consumes enormous amounts of energy and water, is resource-intensive, uses harmful chemicals, and often takes place under extremely precarious working conditions. However, with its overproduction and throwaway culture, global fashion consumption not only uses large amounts of energy and resources but is also one of the world’s largest sources of CO2 emissions. That’s why we want to set an example and keep clothing in circulation.
Die Textilindustrie ist eine der klima- und umweltschädlichsten Industrien der Welt. Die Verarbeitung von Textilien verbraucht enorme Mengen von Energie, Wasser, ist ressourcenintensiv, nutzt schädliche Chemikalien und findet häufig unter mehr als prekären Arbeitsbedingungen statt. Der globale Fashion-Konsum verbraucht mit seiner Überproduktion und Kultur des Wegwerfens aber nicht nur große Mengen an Energie und Ressourcen sondern zählt weltweit zu den größten CO2-Emittenten. Daher wollen wir ein Zeichen setzen und Kleidung im Kreislauf behalten.
