Huruma in Action: Evidence and Lessons on Mobilising Private Capital for Inclusive and Climate-Resilient Rural Finance
Presentation of the findings of the Mid-Term Evaluation of the Huruma Action

The Huruma Action is a blended finance initiative promoted by the European Union and Spanish Cooperation to help close the financing gap affecting small-scale agricultural producers and rural enterprises in low- and middle-income countries.
This event will present the main findings and recommendations of the Mid-Term Evaluation of the Huruma Action, with a focus on its contribution to mobilising private investment towards agricultural and rural finance. The event will explore the conditions required for blended finance to generate financial, institutional and development additionality, while sharing operational lessons on the combination of financing, technical assistance, impact management and support to local financial intermediaries.
The event will bring together representatives of European institutions, development finance institutions, private investors and specialised organisations to share lessons from the Huruma experience and discuss the potential adaptation or replication of its model. It will also explore the links between Huruma, the priorities of Global Gateway, the European development finance architecture and the future role of FEDES.
The programme will combine a presentation of the findings of the Mid-Term Evaluation with insights from the implementation and management of the Huruma Fund, followed by a dialogue on lessons learned and opportunities to scale blended finance approaches for inclusive and climate-resilient rural development.
