Climathon 2026
The City of Cannes is fortunate to have several environmental education associations operating within its territory, particularly Méditerranée 2000 and the CPIE.
Local children in Cannes and the general public are increasingly aware of environmental issues, notably through the Sustainable Development Pathway (Parcours Développement Durable) and events organized by the City. However, this awareness does not necessarily translate into visible behavioral change. How can we enhance and reinvent our outreach initiatives to encourage people to take action?
The objectives of this Climathon could be the following:
Allow the Environment Department and environmental education associations to challenge and refine their environmental education tools (for schools, the general public, etc.);
Enable the Méditerranée 2000 and CPIE associations to recruit volunteers;
Bring forward new projects (tools, events, etc.) with the goal of increasing impact—not just reaching a larger audience, but driving actual behavioral change;
Promote the new (upcoming) local platform for sharing sustainable development education tools, set to launch in September 2026 in partnership with the French National Education Ministry;
Explore whether digital tools or innovative mechanisms (such as nudges) could help reach more people at a constant cost;
Explore whether AI can also help us revisit and upgrade our tools.
The association Méditerranée 2000 has confirmed its agreement to prepare this Climathon alongside the Environment Department.
Focus sur l’éducation au développement durable
La Ville de Cannes a la chance de disposer sur son territoire de plusieurs associations d’éducation à l’environnement, en particulier Méditerranée 2000 et le CPIE.
Les enfants cannois et plus généralement le grand public sont de plus en plus sensibilisés à l’environnement, notamment par l’intermédiaire du Parcours Développement Durable et des manifestations organisées par la Ville, mais cette prise de conscience n’engendre pas nécessairement une évolution visible des comportements. Comment compléter et réinventer nos démarches de sensibilisation pour favoriser le passage à l’acte ?
Les objectifs de ce Climathon pourraient être les suivants :
• permettre au service Environnement et aux associations d’éducation à l’environnement de challenger leurs outils d’éducation à l’environnement (scolaires, grand public, …) ;
• permettre aux associations Méditerranée 2000 et CPIE de recruter des bénévoles ;
• faire émerger de nouveaux projets (outils, manifestations, …) avec un objectif d’augmenter l’impact (pas seulement un plus grand nombre de personnes touchées mais une évolution des comportements) ;
• faire connaitre la nouvelle (future) plateforme locale de mutualisation des outils d’éducation au développement durable qui sera lancée en septembre 2026 en partenariat avec l’Education Nationale ;
• voir si les outils numériques ou des dispositifs innovants (nudges ?) pourraient permettre de toucher davantage de monde à coût constant ;
• voir si l’IA peut également permettre de revisiter nos outils.
L’association Méditerranée 2000 a confirmé son accord pour préparer ce Climathon avec le service Environnement.
