2024 marks Ireland’s third year as part of European Sustainable Development Week. Ireland held its first SDG Week from 20-26 September 2022, with over 100 events taking place.  For SDG Week 2023, over 196 events were organised across Ireland.

Events have covered a range of activities, workshops, discussions and webinars, across all aspects of the SDGs, from SDG awareness to sustainable fashion, upcycling to climate action, healthy eating to sustainable gardening, biodiversity to diversity and inclusion.

SDG Week in Ireland is run in association with the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications and the Library Services of Ireland.

SDG Week 2024 at the University of Galway

SDG week belongs to everyone and is open to all, including students, staff and community partners. As a national SDG Ambassador, we see this as an opportunity to act as an advocate and promoter of the SDGs, to raise awareness internally among our community of over 20,000 students and staff and to demonstrate by example that everyone can make a contribution to the UN SDGs. More information can be found here: SDG Week 2024 - University of Galway.

25 events will be taking place this year.
